The Making of Softness

The Process Behind Luniere Yarn

The quality of our cashmere begins long before knitting. Each stage of production protects the fibre’s natural character - its softness, strength, and durability. From dyeing to steaming and spinning, every step is carefully managed to maintain consistency and integrity.

Colour development is carried out with exacting precision. Dyes are measured and tested under controlled conditions to ensure consistent tone and depth across every batch. This level of accuracy prevents uneven colour and preserves the clarity of the yarn once knitted.

After dyeing, fibres are then combed, aligned, and spun with calibrated tension to achieve uniformity and strength. Every batch is inspected for smoothness, density, and performance under tension and handling.

The yarns are steamed to stabilise the twist and restore fibre elasticity. This process enhances softness while maintaining structure, ensuring the yarn holds shape through wear and time. The controlled heat and moisture also help the fibres relax, reducing surface tension and creating a smoother, more even texture that supports consistent knitting performance.

The result is a high-grade yarn - fine, stable, and naturally soft. Its balanced structure gives strength and durability while maintaining a smooth, lightweight feel. Consistency in colour, twist, and texture ensures reliable performance in knitting and lasting comfort in wear - forming the foundation of every Luniere piece.
