Pure Cashmere 101
The Beauty of Cashmere: Luxury, Comfort, and Timeless Quality
At Luniere, we believe in creating high-quality, timeless pieces made from the finest materials. Our cashmere is sourced from the undercoat of the Mongolian cashmere goat (Capra hircus), known for its incredibly soft and insulating fibers. These goats thrive in the harsh, mountainous climate of inner Mongolia, where their fine undercoat naturally develops to withstand extreme temperatures.
Each spring, the goats shed their soft undercoat, and the delicate cashmere fibers are carefully collected by hand- an ethical and sustainable process that ensures no harm to the animals. It takes the wool from several goats to create just one high-quality sweater, making pure cashmere a truly precious material.

Why Choose 100% Pure Cashmere?
Cashmere is renowned for its softness, warmth, and breathability. Unlike traditional wool or merino wool, it is incredibly lightweight yet provides exceptional insulation.
What sets pure high quality cashmere apart?
Ultra-soft & non-itchy - Feels luxurious against the skin with a fine soft texture.
Breathable & temperature-regulating -Insulates in the cold and stays airy in warmer weather.
Durable & long-lasting - Becomes softer over time with proper care.
Unlike blended cashmere, which loses these qualities, we are committed to using only 100% pure cashmere to ensure the highest levels of softness, durability, and comfort.
At Luniere, we are committed to ethically sourcing natural higher quality materials and working with trusted partners who uphold fair labour standards and environmentally responsible practices. Our collections are designed in Melbourne and produced by carefully selected manufacturers using traceable, natural fibers.

Our Commitment to Quality and Standards
Cashmere Fiber Grades: A, B, and C
Cashmere fibers are classified into three main grades - A, B, and C - based on their fineness and length:
- Grade A cashmere is the finest and softest, with long, thin fibers that create luxurious, lightweight garments.
- Grade B fibers are slightly thicker and shorter, offering moderate softness and durability.
- Grade C fibers are the coarsest and least soft, typically used in lower-priced products.
At Luniere, we work exclusively with Grade A cashmere, selecting only the highest quality fibers to create garments that are remarkably soft, breathable, and long-lasting.
Gauge Explained
Gauge (gg) measures the number of stitches per inch of knitted fabric.
- Higher gauge (such as 12-16gg) produces a finer, lighter, and tighter knit - ideal for lightweight layers and warmer days.
- Lower gauge (such as 5-7gg) results in a thicker, more textured knit - perfect for winter and in-between seasons.
At Luniere, we deliberately select the gauge that will deliver the best style, comfort, and durability for each of our designs.
